Lapierre & Equipe Cycliste FDJ: the history continues!

Lapierre and the FDJ cycling team share a very longstanding partnership. Since 2001, the French team and French company have worked together A longevity that’s rare in the professional peloton!

Today more than ever, a strong collaboration links the two entities and we are proud to confirm that the partnership has been resigned until the end of 2018.

What has pushed Lapierre and the FDJ cycling team to stay together for so long when other teams change? The reasons are numerous.

Firstly, a shared desire to continue this fruitful collaboration: a partnership that results in improved technology on the race bikes, enabling the team to win and Lapierre to pass on these innovations to customers. For the latest examples, we need look no further than the progress made in Time Trials: the FDJ team won the Méditerranéenne, the first team time trial won by them to date, and Thibaut Pinot went on to take the French championships in this same discipline. On their new machine, the Aerostorm DRS, the fruit of two years of work together and unanimpously recognised as one of the most efficient TT bikes, Marc Madiot’s men obtained these unprecedented results (including the victory of Pinot in the Tour de Romandie Time Trial). The Lapierre Xelius SL, a model that already took a stage win in the 2015 Tour de France in the hands of Thibaut Pinot, was ridden by Arthur Vichot to take his 2nd French championship title in road racing in June 2016.

Secondly, an exceptional generation of riders. At the head of the list we have the two team leaders, Thibaut Pinot and Arnaud Démare, who have also renewed their contracts with the FDJ cycling team, signing until the end of 2018. They can now work serenely and fix their attention on their main objectives: notably the Tour de France and the Olympic games for Thibaut Pinot.

And finally the relationship between the two managers: Gilles Lapierre and Marc Madiot, but also between the Lapierre R&D team and the technical staff of the FDJ cycling team.

The next challenges for the FDJ team: the Tour de France start on the 2nd of July at Mont St Michel.
